The Ivy League

I have been asked my share of stupid questions in my time here at what is supposed to be one of the premier academic institutions in this great country of ours, but I particularly enjoyed one that was just posed to me a moment ago:

"Is the basement downstairs?"

Where the heck else would a basement be? I wish that the person looking for the basement did not appear to be a native English speaker or that there were some other apparent excuse for this.

Alas, no.

This is America, people. The ship is sinking.

A Potpourri of Pleasantness

I admit that I have nothing groundbreaking to share with you. I am bored and have been sitting on a few links that might be of interest to someone. I will now dispense with the aforementioned links, so that your day can be filled with wonder, like some sort of magical Twinkie-type snack.

Has anyone out there ever heard of a podcast? Have you heard about these things? Well, if you enjoy them and giggling, I officially recommend You Look Nice Today. Three guys talk about things. I enjoy it. It can be fairly self-referential, so listening to a couple of them is recommended to get an overall feel.

One Post Wonder is a site devoted to blogs that lasted for only a single post. It is updated pretty regularly, and is usually good for a chuckle.

These tattoos are unfortunate, but heck, I will still laugh at these people. It makes me feel better about myself.

"Music to Your Rear!"

This just in: Kids in America aren't very bright.

I already shared this with Ally, but I might as well toss this out there, too.

That's all for now, please go about your day.

Where's Dad?

I am scanning the internets, as I am known to do, and I see a link to a huge, zoomable image (yes, I just coined a term) of Yankee Stadium taken on July 4th of this year.

That was the game Dad was there for.

A quick email to Pops and I find out where he was and...

There he is out in left field.

This is probably a boring post to some, but I had fun with it.

UPDATE

Ally has called into question whether or not this guy is indeed Dad. To that I say, "Up yours, Ally."

In an email, Dad said that he himself found... himself...

left field ... it says "yankees.com" in lowercase on inner wall ( blue) if you start with the "n" go up at a 45 degree angle I'm about 12 rows back ... wearing dk blue yankee t-shirt with white NY on front and Blue Yankee hat ... I'm facing to the right in picture ... I'm 4th person in from left (beginning of row )

Here is a slightly different view of the man in question:

So, Ally, are you calling our father a liar? Are you? You have some nerve.

My Whip is About to Get Fly!

Wow. I just came across this article about a new fad sweeping New Orleans: decorating your car in an effort to have it resemble snack food packaging... right down to the UPC code.

I am so jealous.

The missus might not be excited about my vision of transforming our green Jeep into a sour cream & onion Pringles tube... but she'll get used to it. Heck, I don't even care for Pringles and I can't wait!

'if you want to cry tears of joy watch Christian the Lion on youtube'

david cross left me for another man

it appears that i have, for a short time, stopped my rocking.

sorry to neglect the family blog, boys.

well, i'm officially a waitress now. i have to get a new battery for my calculator-watch because i learned the hard way last night that i have pretty much completely lost my mental math skills.

there's not a whole lot else happening.

my friend moira, who has the same hair as me, just got an autoharp. we're gonna have a band. 'irish twins.'

um. yeah, that's about it.
