People Perpetrating Peddling in my Primary Proximity

A friend of mine mentioned that she was looking to move into a little neighborhood here in Boston in which I had lived for a handful of years, but that her mom was telling her that it was a rough area. My impression of the place was quite different. So, I did a quick Google search for a crime map and found a site that she could show her mom to put the woman's mind at ease.

As I was showing this to my friend, I suggested that my current neighborhood would have more crime stories posted on its own map.

When we looked closely at my quiet little street, I was shocked to find the following story within a 2 minute walk from my door:

Two women who cops said were trying to peddle their bodies got robbed instead early Thursday morning.

Police said the victims were offering sex for a fee when they were approached by a man on Neponset Avenue, who asked if they wanted to come to his place to smoke pot.

There, he allegedly offered crack cocaine and heroin to one of the victims in exchange for sex. Cops said after the woman denied the man’s request for a particular sex act, the two women fled but were held up at gunpoint on the street by the man.

The man was picked up by cops, who said they found crack and heroin on him. The women’s pocketbooks were retrieved along with needles. A replica gun was found hidden nearby. Tisean Pierre Jones was charged with drug possession and armed robbery.

"Peddle their bodies"? Awesome! Can someone give the blotter writer a high five for me? They painted a fantastical sepia-toned picture in my mind. Olde Tyme Hookin'. Petticoats, hooped gowns, and a scratchy Victrola playing the charleston number those kids are all yammering about.

I love city living.

I could do without the crack, etc., but I suppose that is just all a part of the splendorous mosaic that makes up this gorgeous tapestry of magical kaleidoscopic majesty we here in Boston call humanity.

Any neighborhood news from anyone else?

the indian (pakistani?) lady who owns/runs the ALWAYS accomodating Gateway Motel down the street from me was stabbed by a mental patient/psuedo-tenant a few years ago.

she survived, thank buddha/vishnu/insert-brown'ish-icon-here.

and oh yeah. i was held up at my old store a handful of years back.

it's been a while since a good, solid on campus, unsolicited raping at the skidmore campus. and FAR too long since a not-so-resident-alien of Mexican dissent has caused a ruccus at East Side Wine and Spirits.

far too long. in fact? i'd say we're due.

over do.
